Client holding a seance to get marketing ideas.Every business person talks about it. Lies about it. Uses lots of fancy terms and theories to discuss it. And generally screws it up. But marketing is really a whole lot easier than that.

A former partner said it best, "You ask people what they want - and then you give it to them." (Oh, and of course, they give you money!) That's marketing 101, 201, 301, etc. 

What you want doesn't count for squat. Only what they want. And then you have to figure out the product, pricing, packaging, promotion, advertising, selling, supporting and even the collecting. 

None of it is brain surgery, but all those pieces have to be put in one place, and made to work together. If that isn't enough, things are changing constantly so you have to endlessly redesign and modify, and find new ways of keeping the whole scheme rolling.
